Parent Coaching for Eating Disorders
“Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach.”
What Is Parent Coaching?
Eating disorders don’t just affect the individual—they impact the entire family system. Many parents and loved ones find themselves feeling overwhelmed or unsure what to do or afraid of saying or doing the “wrong” thing.
Parent coaching is a collaborative, supportive process designed to help you better understand eating disorders and feel more confident in how you respond to them.
Rather than focusing on treating your loved one directly, parent coaching focuses on equipping you with tools, insight, and guidance so you can support recovery in a way that is both effective and sustainable.
A typical session may include:
Discussing current challenges or situations with your loved one
Exploring patterns and dynamics that may be contributing to stress or conflict
Developing practical strategies for communication and support
Learning how to respond to difficult behaviors or resistance
Processing your own emotional experience as a parent or loved one
Sessions are tailored to your specific situation and needs. This is a space where you can speak openly, ask questions, and explore challenges without judgment.
